Aux Switches as a Kill Switch

That doesn’t work when you shoot someone trying to steal a truck in your driveway. I used an aux switch to trigger a Mobilistics fuel pump relay. Simple and better than nothing.

NON-TRX FUNSTUFF - At MARK DODGE

I don’t know where you’re originally from and what those taxes look like but you can register there as well. I do that and register all my vehicles back home in Alaska where there is no tax and it’s saved me close to $50k in Colorado sales tax and registration fees in the last four years.

Stellantis touts mega range of 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger

If you drive it like a TRX on your daily commute and plug it in at home you’ll be able to do probably 80 miles on a full charge before needing to run the generator. In my area that’s about $11 in electricity compared to about $30 in gas for the TRX. No replacing the sound of a supercharged V8...

Stellantis touts mega range of 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger

It’s double the horsepower and torque with a more usable power delivery.

Stellantis touts mega range of 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger

It shouldn’t make a difference on power output. When towing the truck should get about 1mi/kWh. The generator can output 130kw continuous and 190kw peak. The generator is supposed to kick in at 20% battery charge. In other words, when at continuous rated output the generator will power the...

Stellantis touts mega range of 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger

All the V6 does is act as a generator. If it’s a 130kwh generator then it really only needs to run at half output to keep the battery charged when towing and 1/4 output for normal driving. Most of the time it would never have to run and you could just charge at home for cheap but not have the...

Stellantis touts mega range of 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger

This is the way to go with an EV. All the benefits of the electric motor torque, power and daily convenience without the disadvantages of range limits and charging headaches on long trips.

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

It’s laughable when people resort to personal attacks rather than just debating the facts available. It’s completely possible to think EVs (or anything else) are a joke, support that with data and do it all without bringing politics or childish name calling into the discussion. Unfortunately it...

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

It’s so entertaining watching EV threads on here vs ICE threads on the Rivian forum. Same kind of paranoia, lack of facts and blind political followers just in a mirror image of each other.

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

Fair. I say better than my 1 ton diesel because it has been, in my experience and my other friends who tow frequently with 1 ton diesels. We all agree that we’d rather have electric drivetrains for towing if the range was better.

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

Nope. I doubt you could without some serious modification. Spare tire well is in the bed (dumb place for it) and the bed is composite. The frame is beefy enough but you’d have to do a lot of fab work to make it work. It’s definitely not built to be a heavy duty towing or hauling truck, more for...

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

Compared against my 3500 standard output so yes, less than the high output. I don’t tow heavy enough often enough to justify the HO. I used the 20k pounds since that’s the round number hitch rating rather than a gooseneck/5th wheel. The point isn’t that a Rivian specifically is the be all end...

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

Opinion with the actual experience and numbers to back it up. A truck with more power, more torque, equivalent weight and braking power is a better tow vehicle. The only down side is the limited range. Smoother acceleration, always in the power band, no waiting for the turbo to spool up...

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

The Rivian isn’t rated to tow as heavy but I have no doubt it could tow and stop the same 20k pounds my Ram is rated for. It’s nearly as heavy as a one ton, has over double the horsepower and an extra 100ft/lbs of torque. It’s rated at 11k pounds and I’ve towed 11k pounds behind both. The Rivian...

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

It’s true that the majority of buyers don’t purchase an EV but it’s also true that the percentage of EVs to total new car sales increases every quarter. People are buying them, and in increasing numbers. No matter how boring we think they are an EV is perfect for many people who just want a...

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

Perhaps. I think they will stick around, especially as battery and charging tech improves. They are nearly perfect for most people and boring as shit for us enthusiasts. The US market share for EVs is still increasing each quarter so people must want them. The real test is can companies produce...

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

Would be a huge improvement to EVs if they had interchangeable batteries you could swap out at Home Depot like the propane tanks.

    Ford, pulling the "plug"???

You must have missed the rest of the article in which Volvo says their EV is 15-50% less pollutant by 124k miles even though it is more resource intensive to produce.

    OH Stellantis....

Doesn’t seem like a bad little commuter SUV thingy. People like those, they sell well and the hybrid version of this one actually has decent performance for what it is.

Giving thought to the 2025 TRX

Any idea how much weight was saved by going to a smaller engine and lighter duty transmission? I don’t know the answer but seems like it should be at decent amount.
